            What is
Integrated Farming?

In its traditional definition, integrated farming describes a biologically integrated system. Different parts of the farming operation feed by-products into other parts of the operation to minimise wastage and reliance on bought-in inputs.

We love this way of farming,

and are constantly seeking ways we can better integrate the various components of our system to reduce wastage and maximise efficiency.

But we take a broader definition of integrated farming:

We understand it as the way we integrate our business into the wider community, environment, and economy.

At Masifio we strive to integrate our business in the following six areas:

1. We aim to build our employees up through responsible, respectful hiring practices,

and by investing in our staff beyond a pay check at the end of the month.

We take our responsibility seriously  to ensure that our farm is a safe place to work,  safe physically and emotionally.

2. We aim to

strengthen and bless

the community we live in by being good neighbours. One way in which we do this is through our weekly community outreach program, which takes care of the most vulnerable and isolated people in the three villages that surround us.

3. We aim to manage our land in a way that improves the environment within and around our boundaries.

This takes many forms which

you can read about in

'Our Farming Principles' below,

but in essence it is ensuring that

every year we make our environment better than the year before.

4. We aim to

bless our customers

by working hard to produce the best quality produce we possibly can, and only selling produce that we would be happy buying ourselves.

We actively look for the most exciting and best tasting vegetables we can find, to make healthy eating as convenient as possible!

At Masifio we price our products

at a level we feel is

a fair reflection of the cost of producing it.

5. We aim to bless our suppliers by dealing fairly and honestly with them, and building long term, sustainable relationships.

We preferentially trade

with companies and individuals

that share our values, even when this costs more,

because we respect that

doing business responsibly and with integrity

normally does cost more.

6. We aim to bless the country and our wider economy by respecting and upholding the law and trading fairly. We believe we play a significant role in national development by helping our local community in Ifunda benefit economically from the tourism industry as far away as Zanzibar and Arusha.
